Winter Wonderland

The holidays are known for bringing good times and cheer to everyone around. However, this year, the students at South Providence were blessed in a way that no one could have ever imagined before now.

Back in September, the PBIS committee had an epiphany to make the holidays extra special for the students. That’s when the idea of Winter Wonderland was born.
 

Integrated Project Spurs the Imagination

The sixth and seventh grade Social Studies and Science classes combined at the beginning of November to participate in a collaborative project. The purpose of the lesson was to explore solar water desalination as an option for assuring the planet has a steady source of fresh water. Recently the Social Studies classes learned about geography and the distribution of freshwater resources around the world. They previously analyzed the relative location of ancient civilization origins and modern population centers.
